What is the mehta boys?

The Mehta Boys, Harshad and Ashwin Mehta, were brothers involved in the infamous Indian stock market scam of 1992.

  • Harshad Mehta was the more prominent figure. He was a stockbroker who manipulated the banking system to funnel funds into the stock market, artificially inflating stock prices, most notably that of Associated Cement Company (ACC).
  • Ashwin Mehta, Harshad's brother, played a key role in Harshad's operations. He served as a director in many of Harshad's companies and was actively involved in the financial transactions that facilitated the scam. He also faced legal battles and was acquitted in several cases related to the scam along with his brother. Both brothers faced many legal challenges and court cases after the scam was uncovered.
